South Africa captain David Miller against England

Batter David Miller will captain South Africa in the upcoming T20 series against England. In the absence of regular captain Temba Babuma, Miller has been named acting captain by Cricket South Africa.

South Africa’s ODI and T20 captain Temba Babuma suffered an elbow injury in the T20 series against India. He has been ruled out of all three formats against England due to injury.

South Africa confirmed the matter in a statement on Wednesday (June 29th). England will tour South Africa from July 19 to September 12 this year. The Proteas will play a three-match T20, Test and ODI series against England. Miller-Rabada is also scheduled to play in two T20 matches against Ireland in Bristol.

Cricket South Africa today announced the squad for the three-format tour of England. South Africa is getting a new captain in white-ball cricket as there is no regular captain due to injury. ODI spinner Keshab Maharaj and T20 captain David Miller will captain the team.

In addition, 21-year-old fast bowler Gerald Quetze has been called up for the first time in the T20. Riley Russo is also returning to the South African T20 squad for the first time since the 2016 World Cup. Fast bowler Kagiso Rabada has been rested for the ODI series.

England and South Africa will meet in the first ODI on July 19 this year at Chester Lee Street. The remaining two ODIs of the series will be played on July 22 and 23 in Manchester and Leeds.

The first T20 will be held on July 26 in Bristol. The two teams will face each other in the remaining two matches of the series on July 26 and 30 in Cardiff and Southampton.

After the white ball fight, the red ball fight will start on 18th August. South Africa and England will play in the first Test at Lord’s. The remaining two matches of the series will be played on August 25 and August 8 at Manchester and Oval.
